about the artist
My name is Jamie Lupia, but you can call me Jam! I am an Italian-Canadian writer and illustrator creating out of Ontario, Canada. I have my BA in creative writing, and have been drawing for what feels like my entire life. My working background is mainly creative writing, journalism, copywriting, and non-profit community engagement. While working in diverse, professional fields, I have learned that creativity can be applied to everything. I believe that the best art is so expansive that after engaging, your world becomes figuratively bigger. Creativity is a gift that I am privileged to have - I am so excited to get to share it with you and my local community!

During my undergraduate, I found solstice in the boundaries between art and activism. I became invested in local issues such as biodiversity offsetting, Indigenous treaty infringements, underserved communities, animal liberation, and climate change. It took me a long time to find balance in both art for purpose, and art for pleasure. When I am not playing with those binaries, you'll find me cooking up a new vegan recipe, rock climbing with my friends, writing snail mail to loved ones, hanging out with my animals, or in a forest searching for where the sun peeks through the trees - join me sometime!
